State Parks

There are 24 state parks and 13 state forests throughout Indiana.

Indiana state parks are the 4th oldest in the USA.

Indiana's oldest state park is McCormick's Creek near Spencer in Owen County. It was established in 1916. The next state park established was Turkey Run State park in Parke County. Then, came Clifty Falls which overlooks the Ohio River. After which, came The Dunes along the Southern Shore of Lake Michigan. Pokagon was established across from Lake James in Northeast Indiana. Spring Mill was established in Lawrence County. Shakamak in Clay, Sullivan and Green counties.
